“Hope Springs Eternal”

1st Day of Advent, Sunday December 1st 2013

This piece is very important to me as the first day of advent represents hope, the lighting of the first candle,
the message of love, hope is eternal yet as we enter the darkness of Winter it seems so very far away.

Hope and Love are universal.

In the words of Al Green ‘Love is the message and the message is love’.

Angels are often symbolised as birds, bringing heavenly messages, this is usually typified in music and song.

Dec 1st falling on a Sunday only happens approx. once every 7 years, the next time it does so will be 2019.

The title is from the phrase made famous in the poem by Alexander Pope,

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never is, but always to be blessed:
The soul, uneasy and confined from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.
Alexander Pope, An Essay on Man
